Khalid, a one-month-old baby, was born with Down syndrome and a heart condition. Instead of being embraced with love, he was abandoned by his parents.

Just two days after leaving the hospital, his mother made the heart-wrenching decision to leave him at an orphanage. She had been separated from her husband, who couldn’t accept Khalid’s condition and saw him as a burden rather than a blessing. This innocent baby, who should have been cherished, now faces life without the warmth of his parents.

While most babies are welcomed into the world with love and warm embraces, Khalid was left without a family. My heart broke seeing him cry non-stop, his tiny body trembling from seizures caused by his illness.

Now, after a few days at the orphanage, Khalid is being cared for with love alongside 20 other children. But the orphanage is struggling financially. They have no steady donors, and Khalid’s arrival has increased their expenses. He needs diapers, milk, and clothes.

More than that, Khalid requires regular hospital check-ups every month. He has five heart defects that will require surgery. He also needs medication and therapy to manage Down syndrome, which he will live with for the rest of his life.
