While crying, Grandma Parti (91 years old) clutched the photo of her late husband, holding on to the only memory she has left. Her breath is shallow, and half of it feels like it’s left in the past due to frequent asthma attacks. Yet, Grandma continues to fight to survive.

Her body is frail, as she eats very little. She only goes to the rice fields if she has the strength. If not, she collects leftover rice to feed herself and her son.

For the past 10 years, Grandma has devoted her life to caring for her only son, Ismanu. He suffered a stroke and is paralyzed after a serious fall while scavenging for scraps to make a living.

Since then, he has never been taken to the hospital. He remains bedridden, fed only with rice and vegetable broth. Grandma and her son’s condition is heartbreaking; they are so hungry they suffer from malnutrition. But what can Grandma do? Her own condition limits what she can do for them.
