Mr. Yogi’s hands and legs were destroyed by leprosy, which has been slowly eating away at his body.
At first, the pain was concentrated in his left foot, but over time it spread to his fingers as well. Gradually, his fingers curled up until they began to rot and required surgery.
Mr. Yogi could only surrender when he found out that the surgery would be extremely costly. He doesn’t even have enough for the medication he needs to take regularly for leprosy.
The amputation needs to happen before his left foot becomes even more damaged.
The earnings from selling residential LPG are only about 10 cents per tank, while his stove repair business is slow, and he often gives free service to neighbors who can’t afford to pay.
Mr. Yogi and his wife’s daily needs, including food and rent, can’t wait.
