Her name is Ica (13), a young girl who has been orphaned and left to survive on her own. Her father passed away when she was just two months old, and her mother left to work away from home three years ago—but for the past two years, there’s been no news and no financial support. Since then, Ica has been living completely alone, with no relatives around.

To survive, Ica sells donuts from a neighbor’s shop. Every day, after school from 1 PM to 5 PM, she walks 5 km on foot to sell the donuts.

Each donut is priced at 8 cents and Ica earns 4 cents per piece sold. On most days, she only manages to sell 10 to 20 donuts, meaning she takes home just 40 to 80 cents—barely enough for her daily needs.

One heartbreaking moment Ica shared was when a stranger robbed her earnings while she was selling donuts. The person threatened her safety if she didn’t comply.

With no relatives to turn to, Ica lives alone in her late father’s house. The little money she earns means she often goes hungry. She considers herself lucky if she can eat plain rice without any side dishes. Some days, to fight the hunger, she drinks lots of water before going to school.

Despite these struggles, Ica remains determined to continue her education. She is currently in school, but it isn’t easy for her either. She often gets mocked by classmates for not having a father.

“Ica feels sad when they tease me at school because I don’t have a dad. I miss him so much,” she said.

Even though she has never seen her father’s face, as there are no photos of him, she still longs for him. She also deeply misses her mother, wishing she would return home so they could be together again. 💔
