“Sister, I’m sorry… there’s only dry rice for the three of us,” said Grandma Saminten, holding back tears.
At 91 years old, Grandma Saminten keeps fighting, even though her frail body and nearly blind eyes—due to cataracts—make life difficult. Every day, she cares for her two older sisters, Grandma Samilah (94) and Grandma Saminem (92), who are completely paralyzed due to strokes.
The three of them live together in a dilapidated, leaky shack with fragile plywood walls. Each night, the cold wind seeps through mercilessly, making it impossible for them to sleep peacefully.
Their survival depends on Grandma Saminten’s daughter, Sutilah, who works far from home for a small income. But even that money is barely enough to cover food, and medicine, let alone fix their crumbling house.
In their old age, these three siblings only wish for proper meals and a safe place to sleep. But without help, their days will continue to be filled with suffering.
Let’s be a ray of hope for Grandma Saminten, Grandma Samilah, and Grandma Saminem. Your kindness can change their lives for the better.
“Many times, we have to eat with whatever little we have. Sometimes, one plate of rice is shared among the three of us, and that’s only when I get home.”
