For years, Tiểu Vy has lived in fear of not being able to continue her education. Her three older brothers had to drop out of school. “Will I be next? If I am, how can I give my family a brighter future?”
As buffalo herders, it’s not easy for Tiểu Vy’s parents to provide for their 7 children. They believe education is very important, but with so little money, they can’t even afford to make ends meet properly.
There’s also a story of Chung. He became an orphan after his mother passed away and his father abandoned him. Life is already hard as an orphan. He can’t even afford food properly, let alone pay for school tuition. He fights hard to get an education, believing it can lead to a better future.
Fortunately, Chung is finally able to continue his education after receiving monthly scholarships from Thiện Chí, a foundation that willing to help him and other children who have the same fate as Chung.
In the 2024 school year, Thiện Chí provided 1,221 scholarships to students in difficult situations like Tiểu Vy and Chung. Thiện Chí is now planning to raise funds for 500 scholarships from donors for the 2025-2026 school year, with each scholarship valued at 700,000 VND (28$).
Thiện Chí will survey the homes of disadvantaged students to assess their situations and monitor their progress throughout the year. To ensure the scholarships are used most effectively, 20% of the fundraising campaign will be allocated to support collaborators with fuel costs for these visits and ongoing monitoring.
