Orphaned Children Sell Snacks: Mother Sick, Rent Overdue, Education at Risk
Fundraiser

Meet Abbiyu (12) and Abiyyah (10), two resilient young souls who lost their father three years ago. Despite their tender age, they already carry the weight of adulthood. They long to help their mother earn a living so they can continue their education. They don’t want to see her struggle alone.

Every day after school, Abbiyu and Abiyyah rush to the streets to sell small goods. They go from place to place, hoping to earn just enough to survive. On a good day, they make around $1–$1.50—but only if they manage to sell everything.

“Our rent is 5 months overdue. If we get evicted, where will we live?” Abiyyah shared with teary eyes.

To help ease their burden, Abiyyah also sells her hand-drawn pictures to classmates for just a few cents each. With this small income, she no longer asks her mother for pocket money.

Despite their struggles, Abbiyu and Abiyyah are known at school for their outstanding achievements. They’ve won multiple competitions, proving that they are not only intelligent but also deeply devoted to their mother. Instead of playing like other children, they sacrifice their time to work—especially now that their mother is sick and unable to provide for them.
