Yohanes Battles Liver Failure While Trying to Finish His Degree

Mercy Wehantou is Yohanes's father

Born into a humble family, Yohanes Wehantow grew up to be a responsible young man who fears God. He never misses a chance to glorify the name of Jesus, always present among the church congregation, serving with all his heart. His dream is simple yet noble—to graduate soon and take over his father’s role as the family provider. Ever since his mother passed away and returned to the Heavenly Father, his dad has been working tirelessly, raising the children alone. Yohanes can’t bear to watch his father struggle alone.

Tragically, just as he was getting closer to a brighter future, everything came to a sudden halt. Yohanes had long complained of sharp pain in his upper abdomen. It got worse—he often vomited violently, his body turned yellow, and he began drifting in and out of consciousness.

It was heartbreaking. Right in the middle of his college journey, Yohanes was diagnosed with Acute Hepatitis! The viral infection has been aggressively attacking and inflaming his liver—shutting down its function. Without continuous treatment, Yohanes is at serious risk of fatal liver damage.

But how could his father, Mr. Mercy Paulus Wehantow, possibly come up with the thousands of dollars needed for hospital care? Even with backbreaking work as a construction laborer, his wages aren’t nearly enough—especially since they have no health insurance and still have to pay for daily living and two other kids’ education.

Now, Mr. Mercy lifts prayer after prayer beside his son’s hospital bed, begging for a miracle from the Father in Heaven to heal Yohanes, who clings to life while holding onto the hope of finishing college and helping support the family. #KindSouls, would you be a vessel of Christ’s miracle in bringing healing to Yohanes Wehantow?
