Ever since his father passed away unexpectedly, Sufpriandi has taken on the role of the family’s provider. At just 13, he became a fisherman, spending nearly a month at sea each trip to support his widowed mother and five younger siblings. Life was never easy, but nothing could prepare them for what happened on the morning of December 31, 2024.

Just after dawn, Sufpriandi stepped out of his house to greet his uncle, who had just returned from the sea. But before he could take a few steps, he was ambushed. A group of men, including a neighbor, suddenly attacked him. What started as a misunderstanding between friends turned into a brutal assault. Sufpriandi was beaten and slashed with sharp weapons as he tried to escape.

By the time neighbors came to his aid, he had suffered deep wounds to his head, shoulders, arms, legs, and toes. He was rushed to the hospital and taken into emergency surgery within hours.

Now, his shoulder and fingers are barely able to move, and walking is painful. The total medical bill has reached more than $3,900. His mother, who earns only around $65 a month as a laundry cleaner, has no means to cover the cost. She has been desperately seeking help from neighbors, trying to gather whatever she can to keep her son in care.

Sufpriandi is not just her son — he’s the one who stepped up when his father died. The one who made sure his siblings could stay in school. The one who never stopped giving. Now, he lies in a hospital bed, in pain and unable to walk. His family prays each day for healing — that he’ll one day rise again, return to the sea, and reclaim the strength that once kept them afloat.
