Rafani Naufalyn Putri Syamtiar—affectionately known as Fani—is an 8-year-old girl from Malang, East Java, who has been bravely fighting stage 4 medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor. Diagnosed at just 5 years old, Fani has undergone two brain surgeries, 30 sessions of radiotherapy, and 24 rounds of chemotherapy. Sadly, after a brief period of recovery, doctors discovered that the tumor had returned—this time in the front part of her brain.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Fani’s condition has greatly affected her daily life. She often experiences severe headaches, can no longer walk without a cane, and suffers from malnutrition. As a result, she hasn’t been able to attend school. Instead, she spends her days learning on her own at home and reciting the Quran every evening.
Fani lives with her parents, two siblings, grandmother, and her aunt who is also living with a disability. Her father works as a security guard earning about $200 per month, and takes on additional jobs as a Maxim driver during his days off. The family has no valuable assets to sell and relies entirely on his income and loans to afford Fani’s ongoing treatments, which cost around $315 per month for transportation, supplements, and other essentials.
Despite their struggles, Fani remains a cheerful and determined child, inspiring her family with her resilience. Her parents’ greatest hope is to see Fani healthy again and back in school, living the life every child deserves.
