Six Surgeries, Still Fighting: Two-Year-Old Riani's Desperate Fight for Survival Without an Anus
Fundraiser
Satini is Riani's mother

Have you ever felt like life is suffocating? When even crying doesn’t ease the burden in your chest? That’s exactly how Satini felt during the darkest moments of her life.

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

At one point, she blamed herself for being cheated on by her ex-husband. But now, her focus is on finding treatment for her daughter, Riani, who was born without an anal opening. A surgery costing hundreds of millions of rupiah is the only way to save her.

Riani is now 2 years old. She was born with down syndrome and anal atresia (a condition where the anal opening is absent). To date, she has undergone six surgeries. However, the scar from her fourth operation still leaks fluid, posing a serious threat to her life.

This difficult journey began even before Riani was born. Her mother, Satini, was frequently hospitalized during her pregnancy due to severe vomiting starting in the third month. Despite regular check-ups, no abnormalities were detected via ultrasound, even up to the ninth month.

On the second day after Riani’s birth, Satini noticed her baby hadn’t passed stool. With a shattered heart, she learned that Riani had no anal opening. At just three days old, Riani underwent her first surgery, costing tens of millions of rupiah as a general (non-insured) patient.

Satini, a housewife abandoned by her first husband, now depends on loans, the sale of family land, and has even considered selling her house to fund Riani’s medical care.

Still, she remains unwavering in her determination. She continues to pursue the best possible treatment for Riani, including referrals to major hospitals, despite the mounting financial strain. There is nothing of value left to sell.

Fundraising is now the only hope for Riani’s recovery. Would you be willing to help?
