“I sold everything I had just to afford treatment. The last thing was my gas tank — thank God a neighbor bought it. Now, I cook using firewood and a makeshift stove,” said Mrs. Sopiah.

For the past four years, Mrs. Sopiah has been battling a severe lung disease. Every day is a struggle. She often has difficulty breathing, and sometimes even coughs up blood. But without money, getting proper medical treatment is only a dream.

The house that once held warmth is now nearly empty. One by one, her belongings were sold to cover medical costs. Even her gas cylinder is gone. She now cooks with firewood using a handmade stove.

Her husband works as a goat keeper for someone else, and only gets paid every three months and only if the goats give birth. With such limited income, affording treatment that costs thousands of dollars is far beyond their reach.

Mrs. Sopiah’s health is declining rapidly. She’s grown too weak to get out of bed on some days, and her breathing becomes more painful with time. Without help, she’s left to suffer in silence, still holding on to hope.
