Since he was just 3 months old, Alsam has suffered from a heart defect. His whole body turns blue and he often experiences shortness of breath.

“My son was supposed to have surgery when he was a baby, but because we had no money, the treatment was discontinued,” says Mrs. Iis, crying as she recalls the fate of her only child.

Alsam began showing symptoms at 3 months old. His breathing was labored, and his body turned bluish. He even had to be treated in the ICU due to severe shortness of breath and extremely low oxygen saturation.

Mrs. Iis was devastated when doctors diagnosed Alsam with a heart defect that required surgery. They explained that the treatment would be a long process and that Alsam needed to be referred to a major hospital in the city..

But none of that could happen—there simply wasn’t enough money. After years of trying to save up, Mrs. Iis finally gathered the courage to bring Alsam to the city, in hopes of getting treatment.

Now, their savings are nearly gone, and the surgery still hasn’t been done. Mrs. Iis can’t even afford to buy milk for Alsam anymore. She fears that his treatment will be halted—and she can’t bear the thought of losing her son forever.
