Aiman, a 15-year-old boy, longs for the happiness his family once had. But life has drastically changed. His father is paralyzed due to a stroke. His mother has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. His older brother is permanently disabled after suffering a high fever as a child.

Now, only Aiman and his 9-year-old younger sibling are left to care for their parents and brother. Although they get some help from a few kind-hearted aunts, Aiman often has to skip school to care for the family. He doesn’t want to fall behind, but he feels he has no choice. All he wants is for his mother and father to recover.

Aiman’s father used to work at a fertilizer factory. Life wasn’t luxurious, but their family was happy. Everything changed in 2017 when his father had a stroke. It happened late at night after work—he collapsed while reaching for a drink due to high blood pressure from exhaustion. Since then, he has been bedridden, and Aiman’s mother has been his sole caregiver.

But there was something the family didn’t know: their mother had been silently suffering since 2013. By 2016, her headaches and dizziness worsened. She visited the doctor repeatedly for three months but was only told it was a migraine. Eventually, she began losing vision. She was referred to a specialist for further tests.

For three years, she went through multiple scans — CT scans, X-rays, MRIs — before finally receiving a diagnosis: a tumor had formed in the nerve behind her eye and had spread to her brain. Her left eye has been blind for nine years now. Because she was caring for her husband, she delayed her own surgery. It wasn’t until 17 December 2023 that the surgery was finally done.

Today, Aiman’s mother is completely bedridden. Not a single day passes without Aiman praying for the healing of his mother, father, and brother.
