Dear friends, I am Hendrik Guwanto Hartoyo, parent of Olivia and husband of Lisa. I want to tell you about how deeply saddened and devastated I am to see the two people I love, my wife and my little daughter who are most precious to me, like a beacon of light in my life that is now dimmed.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! We had to face the brutal reality when they were diagnosed with cancer for the second time. When my wife Lisa was diagnosed with cancer twice, Olivia, who has been struggling for the past few years, was also diagnosed with cancer again this time.
Olivia, who is now 7 years old, was diagnosed with her second cancer in the liver measuring 12 cm after her first cancer in the kidney at the age of 5 years old. Olivia had surgery in 2022 and lost a kidney at an age when she didn’t fully comprehend things. It turned out that now the cancer had spread to the liver and had to be immediately operated to cut the liver to remove the cancer which was carried out on June 10, 2024 in Kuala Lumpur. After that, according to the doctor, Olivia had to undergo chemotherapy for the next 6 months.
My wife Lisa was first diagnosed with a rare type of cancer, Paraganglioma, in 2012 and had surgery to cut out the liver. It turned out that in 2019 the second cancer re-appeared in the sacrum. We have traveled to many hospitals in Jakarta, Penang and Kuala Lumpur but Lisa’s cancer cannot be removed in surgery, because there are a lot of nerves around her sacrum and if forced surgery Lisa will be paralyzed forever and will endanger her life.
For this reason, Lisa is still undergoing chemotherapy for 6 months ahead and must also conduct radiotherapy if the cancer gets bigger. Every chemotherapy and radiotherapy Lisa requires very large funds in Kuala Lumpur.
Dear friends, the journey to fight for Lisa and Olivia’s lives is still arduous. I, Hendrik, Lisa’s husband and Olivia’s papa, need your prayers and support for the treatment of my two loved ones, due to the high cost of their cancer treatment.
Every penny you give means a lot and builds our spirit in this seemingly difficult journey for their recovery. I really hope that the recovery of my wife and my little daughter can be possible, because when they are well and healthy again, our family can be together at home and have joy and warmth again.
