Losing someone we love is never easy—but for Haziq, this pain came not once, but three times before he even turned 20. Life has tested him early, yet he continues to walk with quiet strength and gratitude.

He never got to experience a father’s love. Haziq’s father passed away from tuberculosis when Haziq was just 2 years old. His mother—strong and unwavering—raised him and his brother alone. She juggled multiple jobs: a kindergarten assistant in the morning, a canteen worker in the afternoon, a tailor by night, and a farmhand on weekends. She never remarried, dedicating her entire life to her sons.

In boarding school, Haziq often watched his friends being visited by their parents on weekends. He would smile, even when his heart ached. Despite the loneliness, he stayed grounded and thankful.

In 2021, just a week before Eid and during his final year of high school, Haziq received a phone call from his mother asking what color outfit he wanted for Raya. That call would be her last. Days later, Haziq was called in by his dorm warden—with news he could hardly believe. He returned home to lead the funeral prayer for the woman who had given him everything.
