A peaceful night’s sleep at home? Not for Grandma Ikah. Her nights are spent by the roadside, selling grilled corn so that she and her grandchild can have something to eat the next day.

Grandma Ikah, an elderly woman still struggling to make a living, has lived a life full of hardship. Years ago, she was forced to sell her only house to pay for her late husband’s medical treatment. Since then, she has had no choice but to live in rented rooms, often moving from place to place because she cannot afford the rent.

Every evening until late at night — sometimes as late as midnight — Grandma Ikah can be seen sitting by the roadside, selling grilled corn. But what she earns is barely enough to cover rent or daily necessities.

When it rains, her sales drop to nothing, and her little grandchild, who always accompanies her, has to fall asleep by the roadside under the cold night air.

Despite her frail body and limited means, Grandma Ikah never gives up. With all the love in her heart, she continues to fight for her grandchild’s future. But the burden is simply too heavy for her to bear alone.
