Help 95-Year-Old Nek Klende Survive Alone, Earns Only $0.16 a Day
Fundraiser
Rumah Yatim is a non government organization who help people in need.

Her life has nearly reached a century. Yet in these twilight years, poor Grandma Klende must survive all alone. Every day, she walks with her bent back to collect recyclables — earning only around 16 cents per day…

In a fragile, rundown house, the walls silently witness the loneliness of this elderly woman. Her name is Grandma Klende. It’s been 15 years since her husband, Grandpa Mare, passed away — leaving her to face life completely alone.

What about her children? She never had any. And so, as she nears 100 years old, there is no one left to help her. Despite her frail age and hunched body, she still forces herself to work — because if she doesn’t, how will she eat today, tomorrow, or the next day?

Armed only with an old sack, Grandma wanders slowly each day, collecting plastic cups or anything that can be exchanged for a few coins. Her steps are shaky, her hands trembling each time she picks up the scraps.

But her weak body limits how much she can collect. In an entire week, she earns no more than $2 — that’s only about 16 cents a day.

If she’s lucky, she can buy some food. But on days when she earns nothing, she simply lies on her thin mat inside her cold, dusty house — enduring hunger through the night.

As if hunger weren’t enough, her shelter barely qualifies as a home. There’s no toilet, forcing her to dig a small hole behind the bushes whenever she needs to relieve herself.

She owns no valuables — not even a bed or a cabinet. The house walls are crumbling, and the roof leaks whenever heavy rain falls.

At night, a small pile of cloth is all that shields her from the cold wind. When darkness falls, she sits quietly without light, whispering prayers. God has granted her a long life, but with it, many trials.

When asked about her wishes, Grandma Klende didn’t ask for money or gold. She only said one thing softly:

“I just want to have a toilet so I can go to the bathroom properly.”

Even in her final years, her wish remains so simple. Hang on, Grandma — may many kind-hearted people come forward to make your small dream come true.
