In her twilight years, Grandma Sumartun should be resting peacefully. But instead, every day she carries a 10-kilogram sack of peanuts and walks 10 kilometers from village to village—just to earn enough for a single meal.
With her frail body, Grandma continues selling patiently, even when exhaustion and pain take over. Sadly, her peanuts rarely sell. Some days, after walking and selling all day long, she only earns around 16 cents.
Walking long distances while carrying such a heavy load is never easy. Sometimes, Grandma has to stop and rest by the roadside before gathering her strength to continue her rounds again.
Grandma Sumartun lives completely alone. Her husband passed away ten years ago, followed by her only child a year later. There’s no one left to support her—no one to lean on.
Now, her only wish is to have a small cart, so she won’t have to carry her peanuts on her back anymore.
Donations from kind supporters will not only help Grandma Sumartun but, with her permission, will also be distributed to other beneficiaries in similar need.
#KindHearts, let’s help Grandma Sumartun sell more easily. Your donation can make her dream of owning a small cart come true—and ease the burden she carries every single day.
