Pak Pandi Momo, 69, used to be a lively street food vendor, always working hard to support his family.

But his life changed drastically in 2017, when a small spot appeared on his temple. Over time, it developed into a severe chronic condition that now affects half of his face and threatens his life.

Previously, his son, Kang Endi, accompanied him to medical appointments and covered treatment costs. But since 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic, his son ran out of funds and even had to stop working. He borrowed money wherever he could just to pay for his father’s care. Due to limited funds, Pak Pandi has had to stop his regular treatments since 2021, relying only on pain relief medication as a temporary solution. Doctors have confirmed that he still needs several operations to stop the disease from progressing.

Today, Pak Pandi survives by selling street food in front of his house, but few customers come because they are frightened by his appearance. His daily earnings are only about Rp20,000 — far from enough to cover living and medical expenses.

Nights are filled with unbearable pain, while his wife, Ibu Yati, can only comfort him by gently pressing warm cloths on his wounds, praying for a miracle.
