Grandpa often falls asleep or even faints from exhaustion after walking long distances selling crackers. His frail legs can barely support his hunched body, but he has no other choice—he must keep going to buy rice and medicine for his sick wife.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!“Ma’am, can I trade my crackers for some rice? My wife hasn’t eaten in two days… she’s sick. I haven’t sold anything today,” Grandpa Mali pleaded.
This is Grandpa Mali (79), an elderly man who still fights to make a living by selling crackers from door to door. Every day, with slow and unsteady steps, he walks around offering his snacks to everyone he meets.
Despite his old age, he pushes himself just to buy rice and medicine for his ailing wife.
He starts selling as early as 5 AM until 5 PM, walking miles while carrying 10kg of crackers on his fragile shoulders. Whenever his legs ache from exhaustion, he stops to rest—sometimes at security posts, shopfronts, or any sheltered area, often falling asleep from fatigue.
The saddest part? Even after walking for miles every day, he barely makes any sales. Most of the time, only a few packs are sold, and many are left unsold. If he earns just $1 a day, he considers it a blessing.
There have been days when, out of sheer desperation, he swallowed his pride and tried to trade his crackers for rice at the local stores he passed. But sadly, most shop owners refused his offer.
No wonder Grandpa Mali and his wife often go to bed hungry or are forced to fast out of necessity. His small earnings are not even enough to buy rice, let alone his wife’s expensive medication.
Despite his old age and frail body, Grandpa Mali never gives up. Every step he takes is a fight—to keep his wife alive.
#KindSouls, will you help Grandpa Mali so he can continue caring for his wife and live his final years with dignity?
