Can you imagine what it feels like for Abraham to be abandoned by his father? Abraham has been diagnosed with 2 types of malnutrition, Kwashiorkor and Marasmus.
Kwashiorkor is a condition in which a person may consume enough calories but lacks protein intake. Meanwhile, Marasmus is a type of malnutrition caused by a reduction in energy intake or a deficiency in calories and all forms of macronutrients, including carbohydrates, fats, and proteins.
Since birth, his tiny body has been filled with wounds from malnutrition and poor nutrition. With a swollen belly, he cries from unbearable pain.
His mother, Jusnawati, is a housewife who has to take care of her child alone. His father has disappeared and has never once checked on his suffering son. Since Abraham was born, he has never received a single cent of support from his father.
It all began when his mother noticed strange spots on Abraham’s body. By the time he reached six months, the spots multiplied and became red. By nine months, his condition worsened, and he became extremely thin.
Every time Jusnawati recounts this, she trembles, deeply affected by what her child has to endure. Every mother would feel the same way, wishing to bear the pain herself rather than seeing her child suffer. Jusnawati supports Abraham only through the money she gets from selling their remaining property.
