Behind the Mask: Disabled Dad Works as Clown to Feed His Family
Fundraiser
Yayasan Peka Peduli Sulawesi is a non government organization who help people in need.

Every day, in the middle of the busy city streets, a cheerful clown greets passersby with a smile. Behind that colorful costume is Mr. Afandi, a 55-year-old father fighting quietly to survive, provide, and keep his family’s hope alive.

He was once a skilled shoemaker, known for his craftsmanship and dedication. But in 2020, a severe stroke changed everything. The illness left his left leg and arm partially paralyzed, forcing him to leave behind the profession he had mastered for decades.

Even with his physical limitations, Mr. Afandi refused to give up. Determined to support his family, he found a new way to earn a living by performing as a street clown. Each day, he walks slowly with the help of a stick, entertaining children and strangers, spreading joy while silently carrying his own pain.

Life has not been easy. He sold both of his family’s motorcycles to pay for medical treatment, but his condition has not improved. With little and often uncertain income, he struggles to provide food and school expenses for his young child. Despite everything, he never complains. He simply keeps moving forward, one small step and one smile at a time.

Mr. Afandi’s story is one of strength, love, and determination. Behind the painted smile is a father who refuses to give up, no matter how hard life becomes.

#KindSouls, please consider lending a hand to help Mr. Afandi continue his fight, support his recovery, and keep his family’s hope alive.
