“We are afraid the church roof will collapse. So far, we have tried to support the roof using wood beams and bamboo. However, we never know how long it will last.”
The AFY Fanorotodo Church is located in Solotu, South Nias, North Sumatra, Indonesia. It was built 25 years ago and has never been renovated.
Initially, the congregation built this church with minimal funds because they did not have a large income. Therefore, they decided to use inexpensive materials, which could not withstand the conditions for long.
There are 100 members of the congregation here, and they are only rubber workers and farmers. They try to donate 3 USD every week for the church’s maintenance, but it is never enough.
