Grandpa Awi is now 114 years old. But in his old age, he lives in loneliness, hunger, and pain — his body now paralyzed. Every day, he can only crawl due to severe bone calcification, enduring stomach pain from going hungry too often.

He is cared for only by his 65-year-old niece, Aunt Tuti, who is also elderly and unable to work. The two of them survive solely on their neighbors’ compassion, eating whatever they can find — sometimes leftover rice, sometimes sharing a single packet of instant noodles to last two days.

Throughout his life, Grandpa Awi never married. He has no children or grandchildren to care for him in his final years. He lives in a fragile wooden house built with his neighbors’ help — a house that could collapse at any moment. When the rainy season comes, he can only pray, as his body is too weak to move to safety.

Each night, Grandpa Awi whispers prayers, asking God to give him strength and a little more time — hoping he can still celebrate Easter like his fellow believers. But with a collapsing home, inadequate food, and a weakening body, there’s no guarantee that he’ll live to see this year’s Christmas in peace.

Even though he can barely move, Grandpa Awi never stops praying. “Lord Jesus, protect Your people,” he says softly each night, hoping for a miracle. In his twilight years, he clings to his faith.
