71-Year-Old Akong Tio Pushes Heavy Cart 15km Daily, Survives Alone
Fundraiser
Yayasan Bina Mulia Surabaya is a non government organization who help people in need.

Name: Akong Tio Ping Sing (71 years old)
Every day, Akong pushes a cart weighing dozens of kilograms for over 15 kilometers — with his frail, aging body.

For 30 years, Akong has lived alone. No wife, no children — only loneliness as his lifelong companion.
He spends his days walking from village to town, selling homemade food and traditional cakes.

Each piece costs between Rp 2,000 and Rp 10,000, but his profit is only Rp 500 per item.
On a good day, he earns no more than Rp 25,000.

But age doesn’t lie — his body is breaking down.
His breathing is heavy, his chest often hurts, his back aches constantly, and his hands are blistered.
Seeing a doctor is impossible when he can barely afford to eat.

“Once, I was hit by a motorbike while selling. My cart was destroyed, and I couldn’t work for 3 months. Now, whenever I turn, I ask for help — I don’t want that accident to happen again,” said Akong.

“Another time, someone took my cakes, saying they’d withdraw money from the ATM. I waited all day… they never came back,” he continued.

Sometimes, when his food doesn’t sell, Akong gives it away to others in need — because by tomorrow, it’ll spoil anyway. Instead of profit, he suffers losses. Yet, he keeps going.

He lives in a small rented room — only 1.5 x 2.5 meters — which he must pay for regularly. If he can’t, he’ll be left wandering the streets with nowhere to go.

Despite the pain and struggle, Akong never gives up. But at 71, his strength is fading fast. He needs our help — before it’s too late.

Let’s lend Akong a hand. Your kindness can help him afford food, rent, and medical care in his final years. Donate now to ease Akong’s burden.
