Ama Ida forces her frail body to walk on an empty stomach, just to sell bananas around the village. She lives all alone, with no one to depend on—even for her daily meals.

On her rounds, Ama Ida often has to stop and rest, exhausted. The pain in her stomach from gastritis makes it hard for her to keep going. But if she doesn’t sell, she won’t be able to eat—her rice stock has already run out.

“Bananas… please buy some bananas,” she calls out softly as she goes from house to house.

Sadly, many bargain with her for unfairly low prices, even though she’s already selling at a loss. If her bananas don’t sell quickly, they’ll rot. Life is not just difficult for Ama Ida—it’s barely survivable.

In a month, she’s considered lucky if she makes Rp 200,000. With that little, she can’t even afford her medication for gastritis. She once sold vegetables, but too many people bought on credit and never paid her back, forcing her into bankruptcy.

Today, Ama Ida lives in a small house that used to belong to her late sister. Her husband abandoned her long ago for another woman, and her two children never come to visit.

Sometimes, Ama breaks down in tears, recalling memories of her late parents and siblings. Most of all, she misses her children deeply.

Now, Ama lives in loneliness. When she falls ill, she has no one to help. Her frail body often aches, her stomach condition worsens, and all she can do is endure in silence.
