It all began when Amar was just two months old. A dark spot suddenly appeared in his eye. The first diagnosis was glaucoma, and he was only given eye drops and ointment. But the symptoms didn’t go away — his eyelids became red and swollen, and his eye started to bulge. Eventually, Amar was referred to several larger hospitals in Jakarta for further treatment.

Getting to the hospital was never easy for Amar’s family. Their home is about three hours away from Jakarta by train, which is often overcrowded. Amar’s mother has to leave a day before his appointment just to make sure her son can receive proper care.

Amar’s father works as a shopkeeper, earning a small daily wage that is barely enough to survive.

Doctors later confirmed the heartbreaking truth: Amar is suffering from an aggressive eye cancer. Every night, his mother cries as she watches her baby’s eye bleed and bulge painfully.
“I cry every day. I’m so scared that Amar will grow up blind… I’m afraid people will bully him, that his life will be hard,” she said through tears.

Now, Amar urgently needs ongoing treatment, medications, vitamins, and supportive care. He also requires daily essentials like diapers and special nutrition to keep his body strong enough to endure therapy.

All of this has become an unbearable burden for his family, who survive only on his father’s unstable daily wages. Without timely and proper treatment, Amar is at serious risk of losing his eyesight forever.
