Childhood Cancer Battle: Ayiesha, 9, Needs Costly Chemotherapy After Bone Marrow Transplant

“Ayiesha’s blood is our only hope.”
Ramadan is supposed to be a month full of light. But for me, Ayiesha’s father, it became the beginning of a darkness that changed our lives forever.

It started with what looked like a normal fever and cough. She even fasted during the first week with so much excitement — just like any child learning the meaning of worship. But her face grew paler, her body weaker. A father’s heart knows… it wasn’t a normal fever.

I brought Ayiesha to the government clinic in Brunei, where we live and where I work. But after a blood test, the doctor immediately instructed us to be admitted. Her blood count was extremely low — dangerously so. The doctor advised me to return to Malaysia immediately because Ayiesha urgently needed a bone marrow transplant.

In that moment, my entire world collapsed.

Ayiesha is only 9 years old — a cheerful girl, active in school, and dearly loved by her friends. But since falling ill, she hasn’t been able to attend school. Every week, she must undergo yellow and red blood transfusions. She often sits quietly, missing her friends, as though she has lost the world that once made her happy.

Her illness is far too cruel for a child.
During every chemotherapy session, her body trembles. Headaches, vomiting, high fever, paleness, exhaustion — these have become Ayiesha’s daily reality. Every medicine causes side effects, but she must endure all this just to stay alive.

She is still in the chemotherapy phase at the hospital, after undergoing a bone marrow transplant. Her body is weak, but her spirit is strong. She never complains, though deep inside, I know she just wants to get better. She wants to live like other children.

But as her father, I am burdened by an even heavier worry. The cost of Ayiesha’s treatment has now exceeded $35,000. I work in Brunei, but my monthly salary is only enough for our daily needs. Every cent I earn goes toward household expenses, food, schooling, and Ayiesha’s medications.

I cannot afford all this on my own. I need help.
With the humblest heart, I am asking — please help me save Ayiesha.
