Khadijah is the long-awaited child of Mr. Zaky and Mrs. Sofie after 3 years of hoping. But tragically, from the moment she entered this world, she was burdened with endless suffering.
Her heart is damaged, with holes and leaks. She also suffers from a rare condition called laryngomalacia, which makes every single breath painful. As if that wasn’t enough, her tiny brain is flooded with dangerous fluid. In just 8 months of life, Khadijah has already been in critical condition countless times — nearly losing her life.
Now, the only way to save Khadijah is through urgent heart surgery and long-term intensive care. But where could her parents possibly find such money? Her father already works day and night — juggling two jobs as an electronics salesman and a rideshare driver, almost 24 hours on the road — yet he still cannot gather the hundreds of thousands of SGD needed.
From the very first painful breath Khadijah took, her parents have never stopped fighting for her. But her condition has only worsened — countless times she has stopped breathing, countless times they’ve watched her nearly slip away. She is not growing normally, clear signs that the illnesses are consuming her tiny body.
Born prematurely at 32 weeks, Khadijah was supposed to be the greatest joy for her parents after years of waiting. But instead, that joy turned into heartbreak. Right after birth, she needed surgery on her airway just to breathe with the help of tubes. Soon after, doctors discovered fluid in her brain that threatens to damage her nerves permanently.
Khadijah now urgently needs open-heart surgery and long-term intensive care. Her brain, still so small, is filling with fluid. She cannot breathe without medical support. If treatment is delayed, Khadijah’s life could be lost.
But how can her father save her? Hospital costs reaching tens of thousands of SGD are far beyond what the family can afford. On top of that, Khadijah needs special milk and vitamins to strengthen her fragile body before surgery — supplies that are also very costly. Despite working day and night, Mr. Zaky’s earnings are nowhere near enough.
Right now, Khadijah is racing against time. Her suffering will not end without help. Together, we can give her a chance at life.
#KindHearts, let’s help Khadijah fight these three life-threatening conditions.
