Imagine the pain of childbirth. The excitement of preparing tiny clothes for your baby to wear once she’s born. All of it shattered when you only got to see your baby for a few seconds. While other mothers in the ward have their babies beside them for feeding, you’re left with only a set of clothes that was never worn.

For 29 days, little Mikayla fought for her life in the ICU. Alhamdulillah, she finally got to leave the NICU. But in August, Mikayla contracted a lung infection that caused breathing difficulties. Her immune system weakened further after being infected with the Covid virus.

Now, Mikayla is suffering from brain bleeding and another lung infection. Due to the lack of oxygen, she tires easily and needs oxygen support. Moving forward, Mikayla will need to undergo regular MRI scans.

Since Madam Nor stopped working to care for Mikayla, only her father has been working to support the family. Mikayla’s parents also have younger siblings who are still in school and need their care and expenses. Day by day, Mikayla’s needs continue to grow, putting more pressure on the family’s already tight finances.
