“No matter how many times it’s said, Percik can’t choose who his parents are. I believe God entrusted him to me because He knows I’m strong enough,” said Mrs. Nur.

Born with cerebral palsy, microcephaly, and other complications, 5-month-old Percik Cahaya looks very different from other babies his age. His head is small, and his facial features — especially his eyes and nose — did not form properly.

Mrs. Nur was heartbroken when she first saw her son’s condition. On top of that, she has to endure harsh judgment from people who make cruel comments about Percik’s appearance.

Because of his illness, Percik will live with lifelong disabilities. To stimulate his nerves, he needs regular hospital treatments and therapy sessions. His nutrition also has to be maintained through milk and soft foods.

Sadly, Percik’s parents, who work as phone shop sales assistants, cannot afford these costs. Even buying milk or baby food is often a struggle. Sometimes, they can only give Percik plain water, which doesn’t contain the nutrients he needs to grow.
