Pastor Matius Kasih, a dedicated shepherd at 52 years old, walks 5 km through mountains and muddy roads without complaint. Alongside two fellow pastors, he was sent to establish a church in this area, as members—including Sunday school children—had to travel long distances just to worship.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Seeing the struggles of congregants who had to walk nearly 6 km to the neighboring village every Sunday for worship, Pastor Matius and his team decided to build a place of worship in Borong. With just 25 members, they put together a temporary structure—a simple shelter for prayers and fellowship.
But their church is far from complete.
- No proper walls—just wooden planks stacked together.
- No doors—animals freely wander in and out during services.
- No proper seating—just logs used as makeshift benches.
- No sound system—when it rains, the pastor’s voice is barely heard.
“When strong winds blow, we worry about trees falling on our church. When heavy rains come, the cold seeps through the unfinished walls, and water splashes in. Leaves constantly fall inside, making it hard to focus on prayer,” shares a congregation member.
A proper church building is desperately needed. They need materials like cement, iron, and tiles. But with most congregants working as farm laborers, saving for renovations is nearly impossible. With your help, Pastor Matius and his congregation can finally worship in peace, without fear of storms or disruptions. Let’s come together to build a proper house of worship for them!
