Depending on the kindness of others was never what Grandma Timah wanted. It’s not that she doesn’t wish to work and earn a living — but she simply can’t bear to leave her paralyzed mother and sister, who are unable to take care of themselves.
At 61 years old, Grandma Timah has devoted her entire life to caring for her 79-year-old mother, Grandma Sadiyem, who has been paralyzed for ten years due to a stroke, and her 45-year-old sister, Sumarti, who suffered brain damage after childbirth, leaving her unable to stand or speak and often suffering from seizures.
The three women survive solely on government aid of $23 every three months — an amount painfully far from enough for their daily needs. Often, Grandma Timah must borrow a kilogram of rice from a small shop and ration it carefully so it lasts for a week. Almost every day, the three of them eat plain white rice shared among them, with no side dishes.
Even more heartbreaking, due to their dire financial situation, her mother and sister haven’t received any medical care for over ten years. Their conditions are severe and desperately need attention.
Kind hearts, Grandma Timah, her mother, and her sister are struggling to survive. Your help can bring them the support they need for food, treatment, and hope for a better life.
