Now, things have taken a turn for the worse—the landowner has decided to sell the land where his home stands.
“I’m sorry, dear… my house is small and smells bad. But I have nowhere else to go… if this land is sold, where will I live?” Grandpa Maman sighed when volunteers visited him.
Every day, he pushes a small cart filled with his harvest—taro, cassava, and spices—walking up to 20 km just to sell them. Even as his body grows weaker, he keeps working hard to afford a meal that day. But life is never easy for him.
Labeled a thief. Beaten. Called insane.
Just because of his worn-out appearance and smell, Grandpa Maman has faced painful mistreatment. Yet, he never gave up.
But now, he is at his lowest point. If he loses his home, he truly has nowhere else to go…
