Grandpa Ibrahim’s Endless Journey: Stroke-Stricken Elder Pushes Cart 20 KM Daily for Survival

If Grandpa Ibrahim doesn’t push his cart to sell bamboo blinds today… How will he eat? Grandpa’s entire livelihood depends on himself. His wife passed away five years ago from heart disease. Now, at almost 80 years old, his frail body is still forced to keep moving.

Age has clearly weakened him, and his condition is worsened by a stroke that affected his left leg. He used to work as a laborer until he had to stop due to the stroke.

Not wanting to sit idle for long, Grandpa started selling bamboo blinds door-to-door. Every day, he pushes his cart for up to 20 KM. Tired? Absolutely. The stroke causes constant pain in his leg. But even that doesn’t stop Grandpa Ibrahim from walking the streets.

He still has his youngest child, who is in junior high school, relying on him. From daily meals to school needs—it all falls on Grandpa’s shoulders.

His other children have moved away and can’t help much either. How can they, when they too are struggling to survive in poverty?

The struggles Grandpa faces while pushing his cart aren’t just about his leg. Finding buyers is just as hard.

On good days, he might earn around $1.50. But many days, not a single person stops to buy his bamboo blinds.

Trying to sell while recovering from a stroke—and facing little to no sales—is exhausting. Grandpa dreams of opening a small food stall so he can work from home while earning an income.

“If I get the chance, I’d really like to open a small stall in the village… so I don’t have to walk all over anymore,” he said.

It’s time for Grandpa to rest. It’s heartbreaking to see a nearly 80-year-old man still struggling on the streets while battling a stroke. #KindSouls, let’s help Grandpa Ibrahim open a small stall so he no longer has to walk miles just to eat.
