From the very first days of her life, Baby Adelia faced a serious health challenge. At just six days old, doctors noticed her stool was pale instead of the normal yellow, signaling an underlying liver problem. She was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a rare condition that damages the bile ducts and can lead to liver failure if untreated. At only 35 days old, Adelia underwent the Kasai procedure — a delicate surgery to remove the damaged bile ducts and reroute bile from the liver to the small intestine — giving her a chance to survive. Since then, she has endured countless hospital visits, daily medications, feeding through a tube, and constant medical monitoring.
Now three years old, Adelia struggles to gain weight. She is still unable to eat solid foods and depends entirely on milk delivered through a feeding tube, sometimes requiring nightly feeds to help her gain weight. While her overall development is normal, her growth remains delayed due to her condition. Her parents are constantly by her side, ensuring she receives the care and nutrition she desperately needs.
Her parents are doing everything they can to support her. Her mother works as a sales assistant, and her father is a technician, but the cost of medical supplies, specialized milk, and feeding equipment adds up quickly. Every month, they need feeding bags, specialized formula, protein supplements, MCT oil, and other essential items to keep Adelia nourished and healthy. Looking ahead, Adelia will eventually require a liver transplant — a life-saving procedure that is far beyond what her family can afford on their own.
