“Hot… it burns… it hurts… I can’t take it, Dad… help me…” The faint cry barely escaped his lips. Ahmad’s body was engulfed in flames. He cried, but there was nothing he could do—except endure the unbearable pain.
Ahmad Qozwaini, 16 years old, is a bright, hardworking student who has memorized the Qur’an. His dream was simple — to become a teacher and help others. But everything changed in just a few minutes.
That afternoon, after the midday prayer, Ahmad fell asleep in his dorm room made of bamboo walls. Without warning, an electrical spark ignited a fire that spread rapidly. His friends managed to escape, but Ahmad was trapped. Flames consumed the entire room — and his body.
Ahmad’s friends desperately tried to put out the fire with whatever they could find. He was rushed to a nearby clinic, but his condition was too severe. He had to be transferred to a major hospital. Now, 80% of his body is burned, blistered, and infected.
His face, hands, and legs are badly damaged. He cries constantly in pain. His body trembles, his spirit shattered. Ahmad can no longer smile like before.
Ahmad’s father can only weep. He lost his job three months ago and now earns just less than $1 a day by selling fruit for others.
How could he possibly afford the hospital bills, skin graft surgeries, and long-term treatment his son desperately needs?
“I can’t bear to see my son suffer like this… but I don’t know where to find the money…”
Despite his injuries, Ahmad hasn’t given up. His dream of becoming a teacher still lives on. He still wants to recover. He still wants to live. But he can’t do it alone.
He needs our help. Time is running out, and the infection is spreading fast. Without immediate surgery and treatment, Ahmad’s life is in grave danger.
Let’s not let this young Qur’an memorizer’s dream fade away because of poverty. Your kindness can help save his life and bring hope back to his world.
