Please Help My Daughter! Her head becomes bigger and bigger

My name is Fitri Handayani, hailing from Indonesia, where I lead the life of a dedicated housewife, blessed with two children. However, a pressing concern looms over my family as my daughter, Alea, grapples with a unique and challenging medical condition.

During my pregnancy, I endured persistent bouts of severe nausea, diagnosed as Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HeG). This condition persisted until the fifth month of my pregnancy, rendering normal eating impossible, as each attempt led to relentless vomiting.

Regrettably, HeG took a toll on Alea even before her birth, manifesting in an abnormal growth of her head. By the eighth month of my pregnancy, the doctor diagnosed her with hydrocephalus due to a remarkably enlarged head circumference.

Upon Alea’s birth, her head circumference measured 52 cm, with a weight of 4.7 kg, the majority of which was concentrated in her head. Strikingly, Alea’s body appeared frail and diminutive in contrast.

Now at 14 months old, Alea’s head continues to expand daily, reaching a circumference of 62 cm. Despite undergoing six surgeries to drain the accumulated fluid in her head, none have proven successful. The medical advice is clear—Alea urgently needs another surgery as the fluid volume shows no signs of abating. Additionally, Alea must undergo physiotherapy to enhance her motor skills and receive essential nutrition.

Tragically, we find ourselves in a desperate financial situation. My husband is just an honorary teacher with a salary of $50 per month. Our savings are depleted, and we’ve even resorted to selling our motorcycle. The necessary treatments are estimated to cost between $10,000 to $15,000—an amount beyond our means.

Thus, we humbly implore your assistance in saving Alea’s life. Your contributions, no matter how small, will make a significant difference, offering a chance for Alea to lead a healthier and more fulfilling life. These treatments hold the promise of transforming her future positively.
