At just 4 years and 10 months old, little Armel Aufa has been fighting for her life since birth. Doctors discovered she had a hole in her heart and an aorta that wasn’t properly connected. Later, she was diagnosed with DiGeorge syndrome, a rare genetic condition, along with chronic lung disease, low immunity, and even a minor stroke that left the right side of her body paralyzed.
Unlike most children, Armel’s life is surrounded by oxygen machines and medical procedures. She has undergone multiple surgeries, including heart and airway operations, chemoport installation, and gastrostomy. Her airway had to be surgically opened so she can breathe, and both her chemoport and gastrostomy need regular replacements.
Caring for Armel requires not only time but also high expenses. Each month, her family must spend thousands of ringgit on special formula, medical tools, and medicines. Despite her pain, Armel continues to smile, hiding the heavy struggles behind her fragile body.
These challenges weigh heavily on her parents. Her mother lost her job in 2020, leaving the family with no stable income. They often rely on relatives to help cover Armel’s medical needs while also raising two other children. Many times, her mother has had to neglect her own health because of financial limitations.
Behind Armel’s sweet smile is a story of suffering and resilience. Your support, no matter how small, can help ease her family’s burden and give Armel the chance to keep fighting. Together, we can bring hope and strength to this little fighter’s journey.
