“Lord Jesus, our Father in Heaven… please take away this illness from me. Give me strength and healing, Lord. I place all my hope in You…” whispered 78-year-old Grandma Sumi, her voice trembling as tears rolled down her cheeks.

Grandma Sumi is just one of many abandoned elderly struggling to survive in silence. Despite suffering from heart failure, she walks for hours in the rain every day, clutching a photo of her late husband and carrying a small basket of homemade shrimp crackers to sell. On good days, she earns only $0.90. On most days, she returns home with nothing. Hungry, sick, and in pain.

Like many others, she never chose this life. With her husband gone and her children unable to help due to financial hardship, Grandma Sumi has no one left to rely on but herself and her unwavering faith.

When we found her, she was weak and shivering under a shop front, sheltering from a downpour. She complained of chest pain, so we rushed her to the hospital. That’s when the truth came to light: she’s been living with heart failure for years, and now her condition is critical. She urgently needs treatment but the cost is far beyond what she or her family can afford.
