Crawling for a Cure: Help Grandma Sonyam Afford Medical Treatment for Her Husband
Fundraiser
Yayasan Duta Harati Indonesia is a non government organization who help people in need

At 65, Grandma Sonyam’s life is a heartbreaking tale of love, sacrifice, and survival. Despite her frail body, she continues to care for her bedridden husband, who has been unable to move or care for himself.

Every day, she faces unimaginable challenges, crawling on all fours inside their small, rundown hut just to get by. Her body is weak from years of hard labor, and yet, she refuses to stop. Her love for her husband drives her forward, even as her own health deteriorates.

Each day, she crawls through the mud and rain to sell bamboo baskets she painstakingly weaves, hoping to earn enough to buy food and medicine for both of them.

Her bamboo baskets, which sell for just Rp10,000 (SGD 0.88), are her only source of income, but it is never enough. The journey to sell these baskets is long and dangerous—she must crawl through treacherous, muddy roads, risking falling and injuring herself with every step.

Despite her exhausting efforts, she often returns empty-handed. There is no one else to help them. Her husband, in his fragile state, relies on her for everything: for food, medicine, and most painfully, for love.

The weight of their situation hangs heavy, and the pain of watching him slowly fade is unbearable. Yet, Grandma Sonyam pushes through her exhaustion, her aching body, because she has no other choice but to keep going.

Their humble hut, which is falling apart, offers no comfort or safety. The roof leaks, the walls are cracked, and the floor is bare earth. They have nothing, and their future looks even bleaker without help. Grandma Sonyam’s heart-wrenching daily journey, filled with physical pain and emotional despair, reflects the severity of their plight.

But even in the face of all this hardship, she clings to the hope that somehow, someone will hear their story and offer a hand. Your donation can be the lifeline they desperately need to survive. With your help, Grandma Sonyam and her husband can have a chance at a life with a little less suffering and a little more hope.
