Hasnah is the mother of Haizat, a 19-year-old teenager living with a lifelong disability. When Haizat was born, he suffered from severe jaundice. Although he received medical treatment, his condition worsened. Not long after being discharged from the hospital, Haizat experienced a sudden and severe shock to his system.

That episode caused long-term nerve damage — a condition that would permanently alter his life. The nerve issue seriously affected Haizat’s development. He couldn’t walk like other children. At first, the family didn’t realize how severe his condition was. Only when Haizat turned seven did they fully grasp the extent of his difficulties.

A medical diagnosis confirmed that Haizat had been permanently disabled since birth. He could only move by dragging himself on the floor. The family tried various treatments — including therapy and traditional remedies — but none brought any lasting improvement.

Now 19, Haizat’s condition remains the same. He often flinches suddenly when called, as if reacting to loud, painful noises in his head. These episodes happen without warning, adding to his daily struggles. Despite being a teenager, he can’t enjoy the freedom his peers have. All of his needs — from feeding to hygiene — must still be attended to by his mother every single day.

Haizat also suffers from intense physical pain. One of the hardest moments for the family was seeing him sobbing in agony during treatment, as his leg muscles tensed up severely, causing him unbearable pain.

For Hasnah, watching her son in this state is heartbreaking. Yet as a mother, she remains patient and accepting of this test. She continues to pray for strength for Haizat and works tirelessly to give him the best care possible.

Through all the challenges, Hasnah holds on to hope that one day Haizat may experience even a little joy and comfort. Every step they take as a family is filled with hardship, but also deep love and perseverance. Hasnah gives all she can — emotionally and physically — to support her son, despite how painful and exhausting it is. Kind souls, will you help ease the burden carried by Haizat and his family?
