“God, I just want to get better so people will stop bullying me…” — whispered Jhody, who endures pain on his skin every single day.

Since birth, Jhody has suffered from a rare skin disorder that makes his entire body dry, scaly, and often feel like it’s burning. Almost every day, he endures unbearable itching, heat, and pain all over his body. Because of his condition, people around him often treat him as strange — mocking, insulting, and bullying him.

But Jhody’s suffering doesn’t stop there. His father abandoned the family, refusing to care for his sick child. Now, Jhody depends solely on his mother, who lovingly cares for him despite sleepless nights spent comforting him through pain. Meanwhile, his younger sister Shiya works hard selling homemade snacks to help support the family.

Now 25 years old, Jhody’s body has not developed like other young men his age. He was forced to drop out of school in third grade because of constant bullying. Still, Jhody never loses hope. His only wish is to recover, live a decent life, and no longer be a target of cruelty.
