That tiny body lies helplessly on a hospital bed. Her name is Navisha Shava — the only light in the life of Mr. Nanda and Mrs. Endah. Navisha is just 5 years old, yet the trials she must endure are beyond reason. She doesn’t even have the strength to cry, let alone go to kindergarten like other children her age. Her stomach is swollen, her lungs damaged, robbing her of a happy childhood…
Since she was only 6 months old, Navisha has never truly known good health. She was diagnosed with hospital-acquired pneumonia, where the air sacs in her lungs (alveoli) are filled with fluid or pus instead of air. Since then, hospitals have become her second home, with constant admissions she could never avoid.
Things grew worse when Navisha turned 4. She was hospitalized again and referred to a hospital in Jakarta, where doctors diagnosed her with Nephrotic Syndrome. This kidney disorder causes waste and toxins to build up in her blood, leaving her body swollen and requiring repeated blood transfusions.
Today, Navisha is still under intensive care. Doctors say her condition remains unstable and must be closely monitored. Beyond hospital treatment, Navisha also needs special milk and medication that are not covered by government insurance.
Her father, Mr. Nanda (30), works as a factory laborer in Bogor, earning far below minimum wage. Her mother, Mrs. Endah, cannot pursue a career because she must care for Navisha full-time. Too often, Mr. Nanda’s earnings are not enough to buy her daily milk and medicines, forcing the family to borrow from relatives just to keep Navisha alive.
Every week, Mr. Nanda struggles to find ways to pay for the vitamins and essential medicines that are not covered by the state. Now, doctors have also advised advanced genetic tests: Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) and a Qiastat stool panel, which can only be done abroad and cost tens of millions of rupiah.
Time and again, Mr. Nanda and Mrs. Endah’s hearts are shattered as they watch their daughter shiver in pain on the hospital bed, while they are left not knowing where to turn for help.
Still, they refuse to give up. They believe there is always hope for Navisha to recover. With humility, Mr. Nanda and Mrs. Endah are knocking on the doors of kind hearts. Even the smallest donation means the world to them in saving Navisha’s life.
#KindHearts, perhaps you are the answer to the prayers of Navisha’s family. Through this fundraiser, they hope more people will join them in praying for their daughter’s healing.
