Today, Rafa lies helplessly, fighting three rare conditions at once: end-stage chronic kidney disease on CAPD, renal anemia, and Galloway-Mowat syndrome.. Those diseases destroy Rafa’s kidney function and attack his nervous system.

It began with a simple cough and shortness of breath. Fahrul and Ika brought him from one hospital to another, until the diagnosis came: Rafa’s kidneys were completely destroyed. His only hope is regular dialysis, intensive care, and genetic testing that costs TENS OF MILLIONS OF RUPIAH. 

Fahrul has been working tirelessly to provide the medication Rafa needs. Unfortunately, he was affected by a company layoff. Since then, he has been working as a motorcycle taxi driver, but his income is not enough to cover Rafa’s medical expenses.

Fahrul now earns barely Rp70,000 (about US$4.50) a day as an online-ojek driver. Ika stays home to look after Rafa around the clock. Meanwhile, the bills for treatment, special formula, and medications never stop arriving. They have sold everything they can and borrowed everywhere they can, yet the struggle is far from over. Rafa still faces many long days of treatment.

Each night they watch him cry out in pain: “Daddy, when can I play again?” Fahrul’s heart shatters at his child’s innocent question. With deepest humility, Fahrul has created a fundraising page, pleading for help to heal Rafa. Would you like to help them?
