“Your baby might not live long, so I hope you don’t set your hopes too high and pray a lot so that Allah makes everything easy.”

Those words from the doctor shook Puan Suriati’s entire world. Her heart ached thinking about the fate of her baby, only six months in the womb. The doctor said her child had hydrocephalus and might not survive long.

But by Allah’s will, nothing is impossible. Adik Syifa was safely born, and despite going through multiple surgeries and immense pain, Alhamdulillah she continues to fight her condition. She is now 9 years old.

Previously, Adik Syifa needed surgery to remove excess fluid from her head. However, due to a blood clot, the operation was delayed, and she now requires a new shunt procedure to redirect the fluid to other parts of her body. Her kidneys also need special drainage to ensure proper fluid flow.

It’s heart-wrenching to see Adik Syifa suffer. Caring for a child with such a condition is extremely costly, especially with her special needs. She requires a recliner stroller, recliner wheelchair, nebulizer machine, and a special bathing setup to make her care manageable. She also needs specialized formula milk for her nutrition and a high volume of diapers daily.
