In 2010, while returning home from his shift at Pos Laju, Zulhadi’s life changed forever.
It was Ramadan, just before Maghrib. As he rode his motorcycle home, a car suddenly hit him at Saujana Golf Damansara while he was overtaking.
In an instant, Zulhadi lost control and crashed onto the road. His head struck a rock with such force that his helmet broke apart, causing severe bleeding in his brain.
Doctors confirmed it was critical — Zulhadi needed immediate surgery. His father was forced to sign urgent consent for a life-saving operation.
On the first day, doctors managed to remove the blood clot in his brain. But the second day was even more dire — they had to remove part of his skull to prevent dangerous swelling that could cause his brain to “burst.” Zulhadi was admitted into ICU, unconscious for three weeks. His family could only pray for a miracle.
After three weeks, Zulhadi slowly showed signs of recovery. But the relief was short-lived. A year later, his brain began to swell again and developed repeated abscesses. This forced doctors to perform 14 brain surgeries to clean out the infection.
Eventually, Zulhadi was left half-paralyzed and unable to walk.
The aftermath of the accident was not only physical but also mental. Once an active young man who loved futsal and badminton, Zulhadi could no longer live normally. He forgot his own name, struggled to recognize people around him, and could only communicate through basic hand signs. Frequent seizures added to his suffering.
Now, Zulhadi depends entirely on his family for daily care and ongoing hospital treatment.
Though life has been extremely challenging, his family has never given up hope. Every day, they fight together with strength and patience, praying that Zulhadi can regain even a small part of the life he once had.
Kind hearts, let us come together to ease Zulhadi and his family’s burden.
