“Every time I sell, I get tired and dizzy easily, sir. Sometimes I even turn pale and have nosebleeds. But I can’t stop selling because my parents are gone, and I’m scared I won’t be able to go to school anymore,” said Putri softly.

Poor little Putri. Even though she’s still in elementary school, she already has to find a way to pay for her own education. Her mother passed away when she was just a year old, followed by her father a year later.

Both of Putri’s parents died from HIV, the deadly virus that now also affects her. As a result, her immune system is very weak, and she easily gets dizzy and feverish whenever she does heavy activities.

Unfortunately, given her current situation, she has no choice but to keep doing strenuous activities. Every day after school, she sells crackers door-to-door to cover her daily expenses and school fees.

Sadly, Putri’s earnings from selling crackers rarely exceed $1 per day, and sometimes it’s not even enough for her daily meals. Her dream of receiving regular medical treatment is constantly hindered by the cost of living that she struggles to meet.

Putri lives with her grandmother since losing her parents. However, her grandmother is elderly and often sick, making it impossible for her to work.
