She’s only 18, but Suci Aulia is carrying an incredibly heavy burden. Her life changed drastically when her father disappeared without a trace, leaving her mother nearly in depression and alone to care for the younger siblings. At the time, her mother had just given birth to the youngest child, who is now 5 years old. In the midst of this hardship, Suci was forced to drop out of school and start working to support her family.

At just 14 years old, Suci left for Medan and began working as a housemaid. However, a few weeks ago, she returned to her hometown after seeing her family’s worsening condition. Her mother looked increasingly frail, and her younger siblings still needed care and attention. Wanting to be close and care for them, Suci took a job as a waitress at a food stall.

But tragedy struck. Just two weeks into the job, a massive gas leak explosion occurred in the kitchen. The fire mercilessly engulfed Suci’s body—burning her face, hands, legs, waist, and even her fingers. The burns were severe and life-threatening.

Suci now needs multiple surgeries and intensive treatment. Tissue damage and organ infection are endangering her life. The recovery process is long and costly—yet Suci and her mother have no one to turn to.

Suci is the sole breadwinner of her family. At such a young age, she has become a “sandwich generation” survivor, fighting through the harshness of life to protect her loved ones. Now, she desperately needs our helping hands to stay alive and recover.
